Job Opportunity – Cataloging & Customer Care Assistant

The Cataloging & Customer Care Assistant contributes to Aaron Joseph’s mission of providing the highest quality services in the marketing and sale of personal property, assisting clients, and nurturing ongoing relationships.  The Cataloging & Customer Care Assistant will assist in the cataloging and photographing of items for sale or for appraisal, by moving and setting up items, organizing groups of items into sale lots, cleaning items as needed, writing accurate and detailed item descriptions, and following photography guidelines. Cataloging may occur at the Auction House or at the Client’s location.  The Cataloging & Customer Care Assistant may be called upon to work with clients in documenting, packing, and transporting of sale items required to be moved to the Auction House.  The Cataloging and Customer Care Assistant will have auction day duties assigned to them that may include: cashiering, clerking, security, internet bidding clerk, phone bidding clerk, or bid-spotter activities. During pickup days for live and online auctions, the Cataloging & Customer Care Assistant will be required to assist winning bidders pick and load their purchases.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe work area
  • Handle all items with care and due diligence
  • Follow Cataloging best practices guidelines
  • Follow Photography best practices guidelines
  • Attend Company Trainings and Meetings
  • Write accurate, detailed, and compelling item descriptions, fully describing their condition.
  • Photograph items in such a way that portrays the items to be sold accurately and in such a way as to fully describe their condition.
  • Secure work areas to prevent theft, breakage, or loss of items in our care
  • Be proactive with clients and bidders, anticipate needs, and communicate frequently.
  • Quickly and accurately notify your supervisor of any promises or commitments made to a Seller or Buyer.
  • Not communicating with buyers in such a way that creates a warranty, either express or implied.
  • Strive for excellence in your assigned duties
  • Continue education in interest areas to bring expertise to your position
  • Account for tools, equipment, money, or items entrusted to them.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills
  • Experience with computer software, especially the Microsoft Office Suite
  • An understanding of and experience with basic photography
  • The ability to lift 70 lbs.

  • Expertise in or a passion for: art, porcelain, glass, jewelry, coins, antiques, collectibles, vehicles, aircraft, equipment, or similar field desired but not required.

This is an as-needed part-time position that may grow into full-time employment.
$10 – $12 per hour (based on education and experience)
